There are Different types of Christmas celebrations have developed in many countries where the people tradition is strongly spreaded . Such traditions include regional and local cultures. Many Christian’s people participate in Christmas plays. During the Christmas and Easter festivals, the largest number of religious activities takes place in the temples every year.


Christmas is the annual holiday of Christians. This celebration is done to honour the birth day of Lord Jesus Christ. This day is celebrated on the 25th of December, but it is not actually considered as the birthday of Jesus. 


Perhaps the day was chosen as Christmas Day because of the historical Roman feast of Jesus Christ, or because the sun moves further away from the equator during winter in the Northern Hemisphere.


This date falls on December 25th, exactly 9 months after the day began to be celebrated.[6] Christmas is the central day of the Christmas and holiday season. In Christianity, the Christmas season is believed to last for 12 days.



Celebrating Christmas


First Christmas was celebrated in Rome at 336 AD. And Nowadays majority of  Christians and people under the influence of foreign culture have been celebrating this festival. Exceptions to countries where Christmas is not considered a public holiday include the Chinese census states (except Hong Kong and Macau), Japan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Thailand, Nepal, Iran, Turkey and North Korea.


Worshiping the Lord by attending temples on this day is of particular importance but apart from that there are a number of devotional ways and famous rituals. Before Christmas, Eastern Orthodox worshipers celebrated the 40-day Nativity in anticipation of Jesus' birth. While Western Christians used to celebrate Advent i.e. the period before Christmas for 4 weeks. 


The final preparations for the Christmas celebration are done on the eve of Christmas i.e. 24th December.

 


Some of the popular customs in the modern celebration of Christmas include gift exchange, music, exchange of greeting cards, celebrations in temples, special food, display of various decorations like Christmas tree, lighting of lights, stringing of pylons, and decoration of evergreen tree. , the scene of the birth of Jesus and the decoration of an evergreen bush with red tats etc.


Additionally, Father Christmas (known as Santa Claus in many countries, including North America, Australia, and Ireland) is a mythical fictional character in many countries who brings gifts to children on this day.


Christmas is celebrated in differently around the Globe where different cultures and traditions are showcased. Even though the number of Christians in countries such as Japan and Korea is very small, the celebration of Christmas has become very popular there. 




These countries have adopted secular Christmas traditions such as the exchange of gifts, decorations, and the Christmas tree. The final preparations for the Christmas celebration are done on the eve of Christmas i.e. 24th December.
