What is Sinus?

Sinus is the four paired cavities that are located on face, two above your eye brows and two below your eye bags. They help to clean your nose from bacteria and other infections by producing thin Mucus and drain by the nose channel.


However, when a sinus infection actually occurs, the lining of the sinuses becomes inflamed. Due to which the sinuses are filled with pus or mucus etc. instead of air. As a result the sinus gets blocked. This causes pain in the forehead, cheeks and upper jaw.


In sinus, individual’s expertise completely different issues like headache, problem in respiration, itchy nose. Normally terms, sinus may be un-wellness of the nose. In Ayurveda it's referred to as Pratishyaya. Symptoms like stuffy nose, headache, severe pain in half the pinnacle, fluid nose square measure seen in winter season. 


It will result in gentle fever, pain within the eyes or eyelids on each side, tension, depression and swelling of the face, phlegm within the nose and throat. Types of Sinus


Acute Sinus – This is a common sinus. Also known as sinus infection. Acute sinus mainly occurs when a person is exposed to some type of virus or bacteria.


Chronic sinus – When this problem occurs, the cells around the nostrils become inflamed. This is called chronic sinus. When this happens, the nose swells and the person feels pain along with it.


Deviated sinus- When the sinuses are on one side of the nose, it is known as deviated sinuses. When this happens, the nose becomes stuffy and the person has trouble breathing.


Hay Sinus – Hay sinuses can also be called allergic sinuses. These sinuses mainly occur in people who are allergic to dust mites, pets etc.


Every type of sinus diseases will have serious consequences if left untreated. If the sinuses are untreated, they can spread to other parts of the body specially Brain and Eyes and we all know that brain infections are very dangerous to handle. A standard belief is that the bone within the nose grows or becomes crooked during this un-wellness and breathing problem arises.




Sinus can mainly occur due to the following reasons


Allergies: Sinus can occur mainly in people with any type of allergy. For this reason a person should get his allergies checked periodically.


Weakened immune system: If a person has a weak immune system, they may develop sinus problems.


Abnormal nose structure: Even when a person has an abnormal nose structure, there is a risk of sinus. So when a person goes to a doctor for treatment of this problem, in that case the doctor takes an x-ray of his nose. This is how the structure of the patient's nose is known.


Family history: Like other problems, sinus can also be caused by family history. In other words, a person is more likely to develop the disease if someone else in their family has sinusitis.


Migraine sufferers: A person suffering from migraines can also have sinus problems. So a person suffering from migraine should get proper treatment.
